Dr. Michael Waldstein

Dr. Michael Waldstein, Austrian and an American citizen by birth, is an ordinary professor of the New Testament. He achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in 1977 at Thomas Aquinas College in California. In 1981, he received a Doctorate in philosophy at the University of Dallas and in 1984, a License at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. In 1990, he obtained a Doctorate in New Testament and Christian origins from the Harvard Divinity School.
He speaks fluent German, English, and Italian; he reads Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, Coptic, French, Spanish and German.

• 1981-1984 Tutor at the Adams House, Harvard University.
• 1986-1987 Professor of Church History, Harvard Divinity School.
• 1987- Assistant teacher to Prof. Kurt Rudolph, Harvard Divinity School.
• 1988-1990 Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy, University of Notre Dame.
• 1990-1996 Professor of New Testament, University of Notre Dame.
• 1993-1994 Research Fellow, Katholisch-Theologische Fakultät, University of Tubinga.
• 1996- Promoted to Associate Professor of New Testament, University of Notre Dame.
• 1996-2006 President and professor of New Testament, International Theological Institute, Gaming, Austria.
• 2006 Ordinary Professor of New Testament International Theological Institute, Gaming, Austria.

PUBLIC FUNCTIONS
• Member of the Pontifical Council for the Family since 2003.
• Member of the Biblical Society of Literature since 1985.
